Indisputable evidence exists about the benefits of early identification of, and early intervention for developmental derailment and delays. The evidence is also clear that infant and early childhood social-emotional development is the foundation for development in all areas.

This presentation will provide IECMH professionals and those who work with the 0-6 year old population with knowledge about the effects of stress and trauma on brain development. The importance of caregiving relationships in recovery will be emphasized. Milestones or typical emotional development from birth to age 6 years old will be detailed, as well as indicators of concern about derailments and delays.
