Transition Age Youth: Considerations for Increasing and Maintaining Engagement

When: Thursday, November 3 - 1:00 PM

Duration: 1 hours

Location: Zoom

Event Details:

Transition age youth (TAY), ranging from older adolescence to young adulthood, experience a host of psychosocial transitions. Examples include gaining greater independence, exploring new relationships, and engaging in new behaviors as well as the potential for the onset of mental health illness during this developmental stage. Attending to the needs of TAY requires knowledge of best engagement practices for this age group in order to support their participation and retention in behavioral health services.

This webinar for providers working with TAY focuses on evidence-based programs and practical engagement activities and tools for consideration when working with TAY.

After attending this webinar, participants will be able to:

  1. Describe the context of transition age youth mental health
  2. Describe the developmental and systemic context that impacts the multidimensional nature of treatment engagement among transition age youth
  3. Discuss a range of multimodal and practical strategies that providers can use to bolster engagement among TAY
