Schema Therapy for Narcissistic Personality Disorder: Tools for Clinicians Working with Youth and Families

When: Tuesday, January 31 - 1:00 PM

Duration: 3 hours

Location: Zoom

Event Details:

In this training, Wendy Behary introduces clinicians to schema therapy, an innovative psychotherapeutic approach developed by Dr. Jeffrey Young. Schema therapy has proven a particularly useful approach both for working with individuals with narcissistic personality disorder and for providing support to their family members. Schema therapy helps clients to break free from self-defeating patterns and coping styles and thus get back in touch with their core feelings. By learning how to identify and heal their early schemas and adopting healthy coping strategies, they are less often triggered, experience a reduction in emotional intensity, and are able to achieve more rapid recovery. Eventually, they are able to reach their personal goals and get their emotional needs met in everyday life.
