A Conversation about Intergenerational Trauma

When: Wednesday, April 26 - 1:00 PM

Duration: 1 hours

Location: Zoom

Event Details:

Inter/Generational trauma is trauma that moves from one generation to the next within families, impacting people in a variety of ways. It can be taught explicitly or learned implicitly through beliefs, behaviors, and attitudes. Oftentimes, a youth, caregiver, or family can be affected by a traumatic event without being present for it (Petion, Chang, et al., 2023). Despite being an important topic, very little is reported about the work of mental health practitioners and the treatment ramifications of inter/generational trauma.
