CBC/S: Radical Self-Care: For BIPOC Providers and Allies
When: Wednesday, September 1 - 1:00 PM
Duration: 1 hours 30 minutes
Location: Zoom Webinar
Event Details:
During increasingly uncertain times, facing historically marginalized communities it is necessary for BIPOC providers to engage in self-care to manage traumatic stress and vicarious trauma, especially as they continue to engage in work with clients with similar lived experiences facing systemic oppression. Radical self-care embraces the adage that we must place our own masks on before assisting others, acknowledging that in client-facing work, it is the duty of providers to care for themselves before they can fully and completely tend to the needs of others.
Objectives:
- Explore the impact of historical trauma on the everyday lived experiences of BIPOC and allies
- Define a practical definition for radical self-care
- Explore ways to adopt self-care practices in our daily work life
- Develop an ongoing self-care sustainability plan.
