TTAC Webinar: Deepening the Relational Foundations of Reflection

When: Friday, March 18 - 10:30 AM

Duration: 1 hours 30 minutes

Location: Zoom

Event Details:

How can we deepen our work with families?

How can we better understand the mechanisms of change in relationship-based practice?

TTAC invites you to explore these questions with Arietta Slade, Ph.D., Professor of Clinical Child Psychology at the Yale Child Study Center.

This presentation will build on the ideas discussed in last year's TTAC webinar The Relational Foundations of Reflection (RFR).  Using the RFR model as a starting point, Dr. Slade will focus specifically on the development of trust in the clinician-parent relationship, and on the mentalizing breakdowns that can make this so difficult.  Dr. Slade will then focus on clinical techniques for deepening the parent's capacity to make meaning of themselves and those dearest to them

Participants of this presentation will learn:

-To think about the many elements of trust in a psychotherapeutic relationship, from both the clinician and client perspective
-To identify the ways that mentalizing breaks down in the face of threats to safety
-A series of clinical techniques aimed at enhancing parents' reflective capacities.
