In this two-part intensive with clinical psychologist Ritchie Rubio, PhD participants will learn about applying trauma-responsive care via telehealth when working with children and adolescents.

Firesetting and violent behaviors can be challenging for mental health providers to assess and attend to. However, assessing risk is important to reduce harm or even mortality in all treatment settings. Important tenets of risk assessment protocols include trauma informed and guided clinical interviews as well as a focus on both risk and protective factors. Additionally, quality assessment is the first phase of good treatment. This training has been created to help you develop the skills you need to holistically assess current risk as well as anticipate any emerging risk. There will be a discussion on identifying and analyzing the level of risk for both violent and firesetting behavior.

Since the sunset of the Social Work Exemption in June 2022, OMH and OASAS have worked to clarify the roles and activities professionals of various disciplines can perform in their settings. OMH and OASAS have collaborated with NYSED Office of Professions to present an overview of the scope of practice and licensing process for the professions most commonly employed in OMH and OASAS programs. This presentation will include information from the Office of Professions on the various professions’ allowable activities, supervisory requirements for licensure, exemptions that may be applicable to staff in OMH and OASAS settings, and tips for navigating the professional licensure or permit process. OMH and OASAS will review some of the common questions received from programs regarding scope of practice, demonstrate how to access the information to answer these questions, and provide examples of how this applies to the activities in their settings.

The Managed Care Technical Assistance Center (MCTAC) is pleased to announce an expansion of our "Ask a MMCP" Billing Panel this year: shifting from virtual to in-person and covering a range of billing strategies and best practices. 9-10am Breakfast and Meet & Greet 10am-3pm Billing Event Audience:  All behavioral health outpatient/ambulatory providers (OMH and OASAS licensed) that contract with Medicaid Managed Care Plans are welcome to attend.  Recommended for billing and finance staff as well as leadership. All other agency members are encouraged to attend to gain a better understanding of billing and revenue cycle management.
